Neal A. Maxwell

"Within the swirling global events- events from which we are not totally immune- is humanity's real and continuting struggle: whether or not, amid the cares of the world, we really choose, in the words of the Lord, to "care for the life of the soul." Whatever our anxious involvements with outward events, this inner struggle proceeds in both tranquil and turbulent times. Whether understood or recognized, this is the unchanging moral agendum from generation to generation."

resolve

There are 18 different definitions for resolve. Those that seem applicable to 2009 include:

  1. verb- to come to a definite or earnest decision about; determine (to do something)

  2. verb- to settle, determine, or state formally in a vote or resolution, as of a deliberative assembly

  3. verb- to deal with (a question, a matter of uncertainty, etc.) conclusively; settle; solve

  4. verb- to come to a determination; make up one's mind; determine

  5. noun- a resolution or determination made, as to follow some course of action

  6. noun- firmness of purpose or intent; determination

Below is my personal application to NOW of each definition in descending order.

  1. I have come to a definite and earnest decision that this is the year I go through the temple.

  2. I state formally that I need the support and encouragement of family and friends to meet Resolution No. 1.

  3. Though I have vacillated on this issue in the past, I have determined that french kissing is inappropriate and sinful and it is not right for me to be engaged in it under any circumstances premaritally.
  4. I am an average girl living an average life (sometimes I think I'm special... that is, more special than others.)

  5. I will take whatever course of action necessary to graduate from FIDM this year.

  6. I will be praying for greater resolve to carry out and live by the resolutions stated above.

Not poor Aaron. Poor me! I'm never going to make my resolutions with his help!
