Neal A. Maxwell

"Within the swirling global events- events from which we are not totally immune- is humanity's real and continuting struggle: whether or not, amid the cares of the world, we really choose, in the words of the Lord, to "care for the life of the soul." Whatever our anxious involvements with outward events, this inner struggle proceeds in both tranquil and turbulent times. Whether understood or recognized, this is the unchanging moral agendum from generation to generation."

Painting

I recently acquired a piano from my cousin, once removed, who is also my roommate. Her sister, Linda, just passed away and left her with a beautiful antique hutch. Unfortunately, making room for that hutch required her to get rid of her piano. So she gave it to me if I could fit it into my room. I had to stand the piano up on it's side to fit it through the door, but it's in there now. At night I reach out from my bed and feel for it in the darkness, always a little unsure if I dreamt I had a piano or I really do have one.

This brings me to what I did after work today. Seeing my piano against the drab walls of my bedroom is a bit like talking to someone who has a strand of hair stuck to their lips as they prattle on to you about something serious. It's completely distracting and annoying! However, Home Depot can help. I charged my credit card $53 to pay for paint, brushes, tape, spackling paste, and so on. I couldn't help it. (Yes, I took my credit card back from Aaron before he left to Guatemala. I honestly had no intention of using it.)

I hope next time, I'll be posting before and after pictures of my room.

Sidenote: I've been listening to Harry Potter on CD all day and I'm starting to think in a British accent. Just know that this entry was written as such. I think that's where the word "prattle" came from.

YAY for your piano! I'm so excited for you! (And to see pictures of your painting job.) I have been working on the girls' room as well; we should call each other and paint together while on the phone... Oh and reading Jane Austen does the same thing to me. I seriously start to talk like a couple centuries ago...
