Here I am strutting the runway and "waving" as they introduced each contestant after our introductory dance number:
Here I am during the "evening gown" portion of the competition (it's a little fuzzy):
Proof that I can get a tan when a lot of lightbulbs get involved. (Katie took this picture the night before... I was laughing too hard to stand up straight. Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures of the swimsuit portion of the competition... well, maybe that's a fortunate thing.
But here I am getting prepped for the swimsuit competition. An awkward picture, I know. Jessica Tuckett is gluing my swimsuit in place so it doesn't ride up while I'm walking the runway. My butt used to be SO MUCH BIGGER!!! I hardly recognize it.
This is the dress I wore for the talent portion of the competition. I sang Fats Waller's Keepin' Out of Mischief (popularized by the broadway musical, Ain't Misbehavin'). Watching the competition now, I'm actually impressed with my performance. I don't think I can sing like I used to. Probably due to being out of practice and out of training.
And that is my pageant experience in review. The results were, I won first attendant (2nd place) which entitled me to scholarship money that paid my second year of tuition and a summer of fun riding floats and waving. Too bad I'm too old to do pageant now. I'm suddenly interested again. ...not really!

Seriously, loved this post. What memories, there is no way I would be able to fit in my pageant dresses, and yes I still have them too, I'm not sure why . . . I guess even adults like to play dress up. You look dang hot girl, steamin in fact. I wish I could have been there to watch and laugh at ourselves, and take pictures of you trying on those dresses. Love that hat by the way. And yes your bum is oh so bubble-liscous. Do you remember how embarrassed we were to go out on stage in those swimming suits? I bet we were pretty cute. Miss you. BTW I'm moving to Michigan next week, Jared got a job this week. Can you believe it?
