Neal A. Maxwell

"Within the swirling global events- events from which we are not totally immune- is humanity's real and continuting struggle: whether or not, amid the cares of the world, we really choose, in the words of the Lord, to "care for the life of the soul." Whatever our anxious involvements with outward events, this inner struggle proceeds in both tranquil and turbulent times. Whether understood or recognized, this is the unchanging moral agendum from generation to generation."

Sentenced to Death

I have been sentenced to death by Chase. During my first year at FIDM, I racked up $5,000 on a credit card ($2,000 of which was for a head gasket repair on the Ru). I took that balance and transferred it to a low interest credit card with the former WaMu @ 3.9%, then shredded the card. While I was in Utah last, I absent mindedly forgot to make a payment and was four days late. SOOoooo, two months later, they punish me by changing the interest rate to 29.9%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I called and gave them my worst to no avail. Then after I was hung up on, I sobbed so hard I started dry heaving. This offense would not have been so bad if it wasn't preceeded by the phone call I had yesterday with Wells Fargo, the lien holder of my Ru's title. Forseeing my inability to make my August and September payments after my hours were cut back at work a month ago, I called Wells Fargo to try to get a two month extension on the loan. They assured me at that time that I could do that and was perfectly eligible but could not apply until the day after my account becomes past due. "Will I still be charged a late fee?" "No. It will be waived." Turns out, as off yesterday, I'm no longer eligible for an extension. That lady ended up hanging up on me to.
My life is in financial ruin. And even as I do my homework I can't stop my eyes from producing big alligator tears even though I'm not crying. I don't know what to do at this point. The good news: My giant school loans go into repayment t minus 3 months.
Is anyone looking for a surrogate mother?

OH MY GOSH. Charlotte. You poor thing! Trust me, we understand financial ruin all too well. (And it's only going downhill from here for us.) I can't BELIEVE those @#$% credit card/loan companies!!! They're getting rude and crotchety because of the current economic situation. You should try to take your business elsewhere. Let us know if you want company on the way to the poor house, because we'll be there. We will all make quite a scene.
